Carteret County Association of Educators

Retired Personnel

If you are planning on retiring you need to contact your local Retired School Personnel Association.  Your decisions before retirement are very important to your future and other retired teachers are more than willing to help you.   You need to stay active in your Teaching Associations in order to preserve, protect, and improve your retirement pension and health benefits; including state pensions, Social Security and Medicare.   Continuing membership in your state and national association keeps you involved in our profession (as active as you decide to be).   Your membership also keeps you eligible for NEA Member Benefits, Liability insurance, Long-Term Care Insurance, and Medicare Supplement Insurance.    You really don’t want to retire without becoming a Life Time Member of NEA-R.    Contact Arnold Adams, CCRSP President, for more assistance at 252 726 6667, email:  docadams@ec.rr.com, or write CCRSP, 214 Panama Terrace, Morehead City, NC 28557.

The Carteret County Retired School Personnel Association (CCRSP) is an organization of retired school personnel dedicated to providing retirement with dignity; promoting quality public education; advocating for human, civic and economic rights for all.  CCRSP not only provides fellowship with retired colleagues, but also takes an active role in the state and the local community, working through local and district organizations to achieve mutual legislative and political action goals.  Our local unit meets at 11 a.m. on the second Tuesday at the Sanitary Restaurant in September, October, November, February, March, April, and May.   We meet at 11 a.m. on the second Tuesday in December at Mrs. Willis’s Restaurant for our yearly Christmas Party.

CCRSP is affiliated with the National Education Association – Retired (NEA-R) North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE, and North Carolina Retired School Personnel (NCRSP), and is open to retired instructional and non-instructional personnel.  Retired instructional personnel (certified) must also join NEA-R, NCAE, and NCRSP-District 14.  Non-instructional personnel (non-certified) such as secretaries, cafeteria personnel, teacher assistants, maintenance, and other personnel join CCRSP only and are non-voting members at the state and national levels.

CCRSP awards one or more scholarships annually to graduating seniors in the Carteret County Schools who plan on pursuing and education to become a teacher.  We help in sponsoring the banquet for retiring personnel and providing pre-retirement planning.
